Our long day at Duke !!!
Samantha is feeling so much better today! We only woke up twice last night and she woke up happy and ready for the day. Since Samantha had a doctors appointment at the duke children's hospital we tagged along with Tim while he went to classes. Samantha meet many new people and smiled at anyone who talked to her. One of the professors got Sammy laughing. While he was talking to Samantha he was making lots of silly faces and then said " babies like me cus' they think I look like them. See we both have no hair!" She gave out lots of giggles and enjoyed laughing with a group of adults. She was truly hamming it up and being the center of attention!
For most of the morning Sammy and I sat just outside the student lounge. Here she meet lots of people who were stopped in their tracks at the sight of her sitting up like a big girl in her own chair! She did a really great job holding herself up and sitting back up when she feel to the side. Here is a picture of Sammy in her very own chair at Duke Divinity!
She really enjoyed watching people walk past her and if anyone stopped and looked back at her she gave them a big grin. Of course this just made them come over and check her out; She was taking in lots of info and realized that she had a lot of power over these people who passed her in the hallway.
After Tim was done with his morning classes we got a quick bite to eat and enjoyed having a quiet lunch just outside the Duke chapel. Tim had a meeting to get to so we said our good buys and started the long walk through campus t get to the medical building and hospital. Samantha took this opportunity to take a quick nap.
We arrived for her appointment one hour early but they brought us back anyways. First up was measurements to see how much she has grown. As 1:00 pm she weighted 10lbs 6oz was 23'' long and has a head circumference of 15 1/3 " ! She is slowly but surely getting bigger and remains on her own curve of growth. Still below the 3rd percentile, but hey, someone has to be at the bottom. Over all her appointment was great. No need for PT or other services and we won't see them again until May.
So it was back to the Div. school and Samantha enjoyed talking all the way back which made everyone passing us smile. Once back we tried to go to the playroom but it was locked so we pulled up a seat outside the student lounge once more. This gave Samantha an opportunity to snooze in my arms while we waited for dad to come out of his last class. She woke up to the site of Tim with two of his classmates and enjoyed the intimidate attention she received.
The day was long but we enjoyed every moment of it and Samantha got an opportunity to take in and see what her dad does at school.
